Meet the Staff

Helen Lingard, Operations Supervisor - 01225 756782

I joined the Society in December 2013. I have been in the Financial Services industry working for Independent Financial Advisors and large Financial institutions both at branch level as well as head office.  For the majority of my career, spanning over 25 years, I have managed processes and people as well as branching into business analysis/project management work.  I now look after the New Business, Benefit Claims and Member Services functions within the Society applying the experience I’ve gained to streamline processes and ultimately provide excellent customer service to our members.

I joined the Society in October 2004 on a temporary contract as a New Business Administrator, processing applications for both new and existing members. Since that time, I have progressed to become Governance & Compliance Manager where my key responsibilities are to oversee, manage and implement the Society’s financial services and non financial services regulatory compliance.

I have worked for the Society for nearly 20 years. My role is to ensure that all claims are processed and benefit is paid promptly with the minimum of fuss enabling members to concentrate on their health rather than worrying about money to pay their bills.

Like most of the team I have had work experience in all other departments, resulting in a broad knowledge and understanding in the workings of the Society. So, if by chance a member of our team is not available, you can be sure that one of us will be able to answer your queries.

Sarah Barrell, Finance & Commercial Manager - 01225 756792

I joined the Society in 2004.  Since that time I have had the opportunity to gain an excellent oversight of the Society; my experience is predominantly finance related however in October 2013 my role changed to encompass both the finance and commercial areas of the business.  I lead the Finance & Commercial team with the aim of delivering excellent service to our members and intermediaries and we continuously strive to develop processes which will aid our efficiency.  I am also responsible for providing the Board of Management with the information that they need to make key decisions for the benefit of our members.

Alan Godfrey, Senior Society Adviser

I am based in Trowbridge and have been employed by the Society since 1970, though some people seem to think I’ve been around since the Society started! My current role is to provide service to existing members and give advice and support to those wanting to start new plans. It’s rewarding to know that most of the new plans come from referrals we receive from happy existing members.

Ed Smith, IT Services & Data Manager - 01225 756790

My job is to ensure that the Society’s technology works day in, day out and that we are using the best IT solutions to meet our members needs. I am also responsible for developing the systems we use so that the team can work faster and smarter to get their jobs done.
