Overview
As per the Modern Slavery Act, 2015, all UK commercial organisations are required to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement if the annual turnover is £36m or more.
We are choosing to publish an annual statement, although we are under the turnover threshold, as good practice and in alignment with our Values as a Mutual and as part of our ongoing commitment to our members.
Our slavery and human trafficking statement needs to set out what steps we have taken to ensure modern slavery is not taking place in our business or supply chains.
The Home Office’s statutory guidance recommends that the statement covers the following 6 areas:
- Organisation structure and supply chains
- Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking
- Due diligence processes
- Risk assessment and management
- Key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of steps being taken
- Training on modern slavery and trafficking
Society Statement (shortened version)
Wiltshire Friendly Society Limited seeks to ensure that any instance of modern slavery or human trafficking does not occur in our operations, within our suppliers or within intermediary distribution partner network.
We are committed to take the necessary steps to combat modern slavery. Our Chief Executive undertakes annual continuing professional development (CPD) to remain aware and updated regarding all legislative commitments. Our Governance & Compliance Manager is the key responsible individual within the Society who monitors compliance with the Modern Slavery Act. Also, our Chief Operating Officer oversees all recruitment, pay and people management in adherence with the Modern Slavery Act, 2015.
All staff are required to update and maintain their knowledge of Modern Slavery legislation and ensure ongoing compliance in our operations.
